Purpose
The purpose of the class is to expose students to the fundamentals of art and design through traditional art media. When taking this course, students will be able to interpret art assignments with personal voice and artistic merit while using learned art skills and techniques. Studio Habits and Safety It is critical that students take the safety and clean up of the studio space seriously due to the nature of an art class. It will be the responsibility of the student to behave properly and respectively. This classroom behavior especially extends to the handling and using of in-class equipment (i.e. kiln, acrylic paint, slab roller, paper cutter, etc.). Class participation can be revoked to any student not following studio rules or cannot follow safety guidelines. If any student fails to follow proper safety procedures, they will be removed from the class for the day. The clean up of materials not only increases student productivity but also extends material usage. All students must clean up after themselves. Failure to do so will cause the revoking of certain art materials. If any student develops or currently has any type of allergies involving dust or certain chemicals, please notify the office and Mrs. Swanson immediately. |
